Don't mess with a pregnant chick!

We got our carpet replaced with laminate back in November. They did a beautiful job and I LOVE how easy it is to care for these new floors. They just had one little mix up.... They were short a finishing piece for the transition into the master bedroom and Hgirls bedroom. This means that since before Thanksgiving, we have had cut carpet exposed and laying over into the hallway at the entrance of both bedrooms.

Vince has called and emailed several times with no response.

The pregnant chick had had enough!

After my doctor appointment this morning, I headed to Mr. Smith's shop, armed and ready to unload. (No, I did not give the name Mr. Smith to protect the guilty. That really is his name.)

He had the necessary part. He just played dumb as to whom the part needed to go... as if he didn't know. And, he was so glad I had come by to remind him where that part needed to go.

{hand up, eyes rolling, best "valley girl" imitation, "whatever!!!"}

I kept my performance to myself...

"So, how about Wednesday, 1:00?"

"Um, no. How about sometime THIS afternoon?"

"Oh, I can't do that. All my guys are out on a job already."

"Mr. Smith, we have been waiting a VERY long time."

{long, uncomfortable silence, me staring intently...}

{more uncomfortable silence, more staring and holding my ground...}

"Um, well, okay. It won't be until late this evening though."

"That will be fine."

"I can't even tell you if it will be 5:30, 6:30 or 7:30."

"That will be fine. Thank you."

And with that, I took my exit.

And with that, we'll see if they actually show up. If they don't, I'll be using my "Better Business Bureau" card. Had he told me no for today, I would have already used it. He better show up or he'll be seeing me first thing in the morning with a letter drafted to the above mentioned Bureau retelling the entire story... including the part where we, in good faith, paid him with his promise that he would return the next week to finish the job. Again, that was in November.

Moral to the story... don't mess with a pregnant chick!
