Vaccine, Vaccine, and More Vaccines

So today was Sweet Pea's 4 month well check.

She is great, weighing in at

16# 11 oz!!!

We'll see if she's still "great" after her nap when she's really feeling the effects of the shots!

Zman is such a sweetie and has always been concerned when either of his sisters have to get shots. Today was no exception.

He tried to prepare Sweet Pea.

He talked to her before we got in the van, again in the doctor's. office, and once more while we were waiting for the nurse to come in and administer the shots.

When we were first called back and Sweet Pea had to disrobe for weighing in and temperature taking, she was none-too-happy.

Big tears.

Big frown.

Pokey bottom lip.

Hgirl came to inform me that Zman was crying. Sure enough,

Big tears.

Big frown.

Pokey bottom lip.

The nurse was touched by his sensitivity and she later commented that she had never seen anything like that before.

It was at this point I decided it would be best if Zman and Hgirl stood outside for Sweet Pea's injections.

They did and although Sweet Pea had plenty of tears, hers were the only ones shed at that time.

While we were there Zman, Hgirl, and I decided to get our flu vaccines.

(Well, I decided... they didn't have any say!)

We go to Scott & White and in years past, it has been such a pain (figuratively and literally) to get our vaccine. It just took forever! Last year, I wasn't up to getting out and getting it done. Consequently, Hgirl got the flu (she had tamiflu within 24 hours and was fine 12 hours later.). Then I got it. Since I was pregnant, I couldn't get tamiflu. MISERABLE! I was so miserable, I was having panic attacks. And the headache! Oh, the headache!

So we are vaccinated this year!

And we went early enough that the kids were able to get the mist.

Easy-peasy! We went to the Atrium of the new building, signed paperwork, and 4 sniffs and 1 stick later, we were done.

I couldn't get the mist since I'm nursing. I told the kids it was their turn to see me get a shot instead of it being the other way around. I thought for sure they would take me up on it and maybe even get a little enjoyment out of it.

Nope. Not my two. They turned their backs and continued to play to distract one another from the fact that mom was getting a shot. How did I end up with such sweet, sensitive kids???

Sweet Pea can't have the flu vaccine for another 2 months.

Which brings me to another question...

Have you ever gotten the flu vaccine for your infant?

And if you have, would you do it again?

Why/why not?

If you haven't, why not?

I believe if you get the vaccine and you are nursing, Sweet Pea will be protected as well. We were there today (Jake has strep) too but didn't see you guys. We'll try to do flu shots next week. It is super easy the way they do the flu shot clinic now.

My sweet #1 also has to wait out side during sibling shots!
