And/Or dessert?
For your kids?
How many?

Do you allow junk food?
How often?
What is your definition of junk food?
What do you consider a healthy choice?

Basically, it's a free for all here. Whatever keeps them quiet and happy. :)
Junk food to me is basically chips, soda and candy so I don't buy much of that. We let them have soda though when we go out to eat or pick up pizza. Snacks = the kids pretty snack on whatever they want to of what we have though -- Chex mix, Sun Chips, pb crackers, goldfish, fruit, granola bars. I wish they would snack on veggies but not sure that will ever happen. Only thing with the snacks is that it has to be single servings in a bowl so that they don't just eat a whole bag of chex mix or something. I don't usually do dessert but sometimes we have brownies, cookies, donuts, ice cream or popsicles. I just try to keep it in moderation.
My kids get confused between snack and treat. I allow them to have a snack after school and most of the time they want some form of chocolate. So I have been trying to explain to them that is a treat and if you want a snack it needs to be something that is good for your body. Granola bars, fruit snacks, fruit cups, or crackers of some kind. And I too, have to make sure they don't eat the entire box. They don't know when enough is enough!! We love junk food here, I just try to keep it to after lunches and dinners :)
We have snacks after school, but it is granola bars or chex mix. Lately they have been loving celery - both with and without peanut butter. We do ice cream once or twice a week, but I don't want them to expect something sweet after each meal. Water or milk to drink, soda if we are out, but only once, then refills with water.
I want food to just be something that exists to my children, not something that they struggle with. It is hard!! My #1 is filling out an dshe LOVES to eat. My #2 is skinny as a bone and he alos loves to eat. I am trying to figure out how to balance that, as I know it will be something we always deal with -esp being boy v. girl....any thoughts anyone?
